Capcom, the renowned developer of the Resident Evil series, has reignited excitement among gamers with the revival of their anticipated sci-fi game, Pragmata. Originally announced in 2019 with a planned release in 2022, the project was indefinitely delayed in 2023. However, on June 4, 2024, a new trailer released during a PlayStation showcase has reignited hope for fans.

Set on a moon-based space station, Pragmata’s narrative follows astronaut Hugh Williams, who is sent to the station following a devastating earthquake. Upon waking amidst a sea of metallic debris with a damaged suit, Hugh encounters a mysterious blond-haired girl. This girl, later revealed to be an android named Diana, saves Hugh by using a device that emits lunafilament nanoweave to repair his suit. This futuristic material can absorb and replicate any information it touches, highlighting the game’s innovative technology.

The gameplay centres around combat against the station’s security robots, which erroneously identify Hugh as an intruder. These robots are fortified with powerful shields, rendering traditional weapons useless. Fortunately, Diana’s unique ability to hack these machines while perched on Hugh’s shoulder provides a window for attack. This mechanism, which involves quick thinking and precise timing using the controller’s face buttons, adds a thrilling element to the combat.

Despite the long development cycle, previews at Summer Game Fest suggest that Pragmata promises a fresh and engaging experience. Scheduled for release in 2026 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, this game offers players a new adventure in a futuristic setting.
